Lady Clare Fund

The Lady Clare Fund was founded in 1934 by members of the Clare Association to provide help on a strictly confidential basis to alumni of the College, or their dependants, who find themselves in financial difficulties. ‘Dependants’ include families of deceased alumni.

Need may arise through old age, ill health, bereavement, or natural disabilities. Help may be given to alumni to continue professional training where external funds are not to be had, or with expenses arising from taking up new work, perhaps following redundancy. For suitable applicants small short-term loans may be available.

The Lady Clare Fund is a registered Charity, separate from Clare College, and reports annually to the Charity Commission. To carry out its charitable work generously, the Fund welcomes continuing support from donations and bequests. Contributions should be sent to the Honorary Treasurer of the Lady Clare Fund.

Applications should be made to the Honorary Secretary, Dr Patricia Faraor the Honorary Treasurer, Mr Donald Hearn. Anyone who knows of alumni or their dependants in need of help is invited to get in touch:
