Funding Your Postgraduate Studies

Clare offers a variety of grants to help offset the cost of books, software, and audio-visual material needed for postgraduate study, as well as grants to help offset the cost of research-related travel. From time to time, the College also offers scholarships to help cover tuition and fees for postgraduate study, which are advertised here. The Mallinson MPhil Studentship

Clare College will make two postgraduate award to support students reading for an MPhil in European, Latin American and Comparative Literatures and Cultures (ELAC) in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics. The award will fund 100% of the costs of the course (fees and maintenance) at the Home students’ rate for the duration of the course (9 months). Both Home and Overseas students are eligible to apply, though Oversea students will be expected to supplement the Mallinson award. 

 
To be eligible, applicants should indicate that they wish to be considered for funding via the Postgraduate Applicant Portal (for details including deadlines please see the 'Funding' section of the University’s Postgraduate Admissions website). There is no need to complete a separate application form, but applicants must ensure that they have applied by the central funding deadline in early January. Please note: applicants are  not required to indicate Clare College as their first-choice college, but must transfer to Clare as a condition of accepting the Mallinson studentship. G R Elton Postgraduate Scholarship in History

The G R Elton Postgraduate Scholarship in early modern British and/or early modern European history covers University and College fees (but not maintenance) for a home, EU or overseas PhD student. It will  normally be awarded for up to 3 years, to postgraduate who have been approved for a course of studies leading to a Cambridge PhD degree. 

The successful student will be expected to pursue his or her studies as a postgraduate member of Clare College. Applicants are not required to specify Clare College on their admissions application, but must willing to transfer to Clare College if offered the Scholarship. Hawkes Henderson Fund

The Hawkes Henderson Studentship in Astrophysics and Cosmology is intended to provide full funding for a graduate from outside Cambridge to read for the one-year Master of Advanced Study (M.A.St.) degree in either Astrophysics or Mathematics (with a significant component of astrophysics or cosmology) at Clare College, Cambridge.
