Clare College Cambridge

Clare College Music Society

Clare College Music Society is one of the biggest and one of the most highly regarded music societies in Cambridge. It gives students not only from Clare but also from the university as a whole the opportunity to take part in top-class music-making.

Weekly recitals are held in the College Chapel every Monday lunchtime at 1.15pm, enjoyed by fellows, students and members of the public alike. CCMS also stages orchestral and choral concerts in West Road Concert Hall every term, with recent performances including major works such as Haydn's Symphony No.60, Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, and John Rutter's Requiem. Alongside the Strauss oboe concerto featuring student soloist Helena Mackie, the 2019 Michaelmas Term Concert included the Overture from Mozart's 'Marriage of Figaro' and Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony. In Lent Term 2020, we are excited to return to Mozart, as we perform his Coronation Mass with the Choir of Clare College, alongside Schubert's Unfinished Symphony and a new composition by Clare's very own Pia Rose Scattergood.

Due to its jam-packed schedule, CCMS is one of the most exciting societies to be a part of in Cambridge. This is of course also helped by its much envied social calendar of post-concert parties and the infamous termly CCMS Dinners, which are not to be missed!
