The College is sad to hear of the passing of composer, screenwriter and performer Kit Hesketh-Harvey at the age of 65.

Kit was born in Malawai then educated in Canterbury, before joining Clare College in 1975 to read English where he became a keen member of the college choir.

Kit went on to have a colourful career in theatre, television, music and film. He was best known for being one half of the long running double act Kit and The Widow with Richard Sisson but also worked on BBC TV series The Vicar of Dibley and wrote the screenplay for the 1987 Merchant Ivory film Maurice, which starred a young Hugh Grant. He was also famous for playing a great panto villain and even performed for King Charles who was a fan of his work.

We remember fondly his active role in college and as an alumnus and express our condolences to his family.
