Clare Honorary Fellow Professor Anthony Appiah (1972) will give the 2022 Leslie Stephen Lecture, entitled "This identity we so feverishly cherish", on Friday, 18 November.

The lecture will be given in the Senate House at 5.30 pm and will be followed by a drinks reception in Trinity Hall. Both are open to the public and further details, including registration links, are available on the Trinity Hall website

Professor Appiah is an Honorary Fellow and alumnus of Clare, Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, Professor of Philosophy and Law at New York University, and President of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

The lecture will address social identities: what they are, why they matter for ethics and politics, and how they can get out of hand.
