Clare College Cambridge

Results, Prizes and Future Prospects

Clare has a strong tradition of academic excellence in law. In recent years a high proportion of our students have graduated with first class degrees (as many as 75%) and all our students have graduated with a first or upper second class degree. A number of our students have won university prizes for the best performance in individual papers, and even the prize for the best overall performance!

Prizes and Mooting

College scholarships and prizes are awarded to the best law students in college. Clare law students have also received a number of university prizes for the best performance in the University in a number of law papers. Our students have also been successful in University mooting competitions, indeed two Clare students were part of the winning team in the International Roman Law Moot in Greece!

Future Prospects

A significant proportion of Clare Law graduates go on to take a further degree, whether in Cambridge or elsewhere.  It is worth noting that Clare Law students have recently received scholarships for further study, at European Universities or have been awarded the College's Mellon Fellowship to study Law at Yale University for two years. Clare lawyers also have an excellent record of securing training contracts or other legal positions during their undergraduate studies, usually before they commence the final year of their degree, and many former Clare lawyers now have highly successful careers in law firms, at the bar and elsewhere.  The law fellows at Clare offer considerable support both in terms of academic study and career progression. Indeed many former students of Clare keep in contact and regularly return to Clare to offer guidance to current Clare students.
