Clare College Cambridge

General Admission

General Admission runs on the Wednesday to Saturday of 'Grad Week' each year. Clare students who have completed their BTh, BA, VetMB, and BA with MEng, MMath, or MSci that year proceed to Senate House for their General Admission on the Wednesday of this week. Please find details about General Admission below.

Registering for General Admission

Eligible students are automatically registered for General Admission by the Praelector's Secretary.

Lady Clare Dinner

The evening before General Admission, all graduands are invited to attend the Lady Clare Dinner to celebrate the completion of their degrees with their cohort and the Fellows. Please note, the dress code for the Lady Clare Dinner is black tie. The Lady Clare dinner is only attended by graduands, not by guests.

Guests

The College encourages you to invite guests to General Admission and does not impose a limit on the number you may bring. However, please note that graduands are only given 2 guest tickets for the Senate House for the ceremony. Other guests are invited to watch a livestream of the ceremony in the College instead. In some cases, students do not use their full allocation of Senate house tickets, leading to spare tickets in the College. Therefore, if you would like additional tickets to the Senate House ceremony, please ensure you have indicated this on the RSVP form above and we will do best to accommodate your request.

Accommodation

College accommodation for the night of General Admission can be booked through the Conference Office.

Lunch

Graduands and their guests are welcome to lunch in College on the day of General Admission. This is normally after you have proceeded to Senate House. Please book tickets for lunch for you and your guests via the UPay app.

Dress Regulation

The University's information on academic dress can be found here. Please ensure that you read this information, order gowns in good time, and abide by the guidelines set out. Graduands who are deemed to be dressed improperly by the Senate house Constables may not be allowed inside.

Parking

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide parking in College. Information about available parking in Cambridge can be found here. Cambridge also has 5 Park and Ride sites which provide quick and easy access to the city.
