Events and Development Assistant/Officer

Clare College has a vacancy for an Events and Development Assitant/Officer in our very successful Development Office.  The successful applicant will have at least one year's experience of running events.  Salary will be in the region of £23,000 - £27,000 depending on experience. The full-time hours for this post are 36.25 hours per week. TOIL is negotiable with the Line Manager for busy periods. The post-holder will be entitled to 26 days annual leave per annum, excluding Bank Holidays. The post-holder will be eligible to join the College’s contributory pension scheme after three months’ service. Lunch is available.

Clare College has built one of the most successful development programmes in Cambridge and is widely recognised as a model of best practice. The Events and Development Assistant/Officer is an important member of Clare’s busy Development Office team. Their focus will be supporting the Events Manager by providing administrative support for the events programme, as well as managing individual events from start to finish under the guidance of the Events Manager. The role also helps to support the activities of the Development Director and Deputy Development Director in their work with alumni.

The extensive events programme includes over 30 events a year made up of distinguished lectures and formal dinners in College; the flagship Gala Day; networking events in London, the regions and overseas; stewardship and sporting events; and one-off special celebrations. The Events and Development Assistant/Officer will be expected to be present as a representative of the College at events, therefore the role will require some work in the evenings and at weekends; time off in lieu and flexible hours are negotiable with the Events Manager. The postholder will also assist with fundraising and stewardship activities, as well as providing support to other team members with the wider office responsibilities and priorities. This is a diverse role and would suit someone looking to move into Development as a career, or applicants who already have some background in Events or in a Development Office.
