Clare College Cambridge

Graduate Degree Congregations

Due to the unfolding situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) we have regretfully taken the decision to postpone all events in College, including the October and November Degree Congregations.

We are really sorry to have to make this decision and we will work hard to rearrange the date and to give you as much notice as possible.  Please see further information from Cambridge University here:

We have contacted the clothiers regarding any orders placed for gowns and hoods.  If you have placed an order please contact them as follows:

Ryder and Amies: Please email:  They are happy to defer your order until required.

Ede and Ravenscroft: Please email: , or arrange a refund online at, or telephone: 01223 861854.

Pre-COVID Information:

If you are about to graduate, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and we hope that your graduation at Cambridge proves to be a truly memorable occasion.

The list of dates of congregations of the Regent House at which degrees may be conferred can be found here.  Not all dates are available to Clare graduands but we do attend in January, April, May, July and October for most degrees.

Please note that the March Ceremony is for the reunion MA only (Clare participates in the first Saturday date only).  The June dates are for General Admission only.  Clare will not be attending the ceremonies in February and November.  If you wish to attend the July Ceremony you will need to select the Friday Ceremony as this has been allocated to Clare.

Once you have decided which congregation you would like to attend please could you enrol on the 'Graduation' tab on your CamSIS account, but send any queries to Jenny Colling, Praelector's Secretary.  If you have requested guest lunches please could you make the payment to the Clare College bank account quoting your name and 'degree' as the reference, details here

Parking - Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any parking in College (except in exceptional circumstances, please contact the Tutorial Office).  It is important that you inform your guests that the simplest way of visiting Cambridge by car is to use one of the five Park and Ride sites.  Alternatively, there are a number of purpose built car parks, but beware these can be expensive!  Details can be found here:
