Clare College Cambridge

Postgraduate Degree Congregations

Information updated on 15 July 2021 - Covid-secure arrangements for Congregations after 19 July to mid-September

The University has carefully planned Congregations to be COVID secure, taking advice from Public Health, the Cambridge Safety Advisory Group and its own Safety Office.  Even though the government will remove the remaining legal restrictions on public gatherings from 19 July, the University still has a duty of care towards all those who attend or work at events that it manages and must take account of the potential impact on the local community and so has determined that the current arrangements will remain.  Those being, without guests attending, face coverings to be worn at specified times and social distancing.

Any changes in the future will be communicated to Colleges and then via Colleges to participants.

Michaelmas Term 2021

All dates are subject to change or cancellation, dependant on the latest government advice regarding COVID-19.
It is unknown when guests will be allowed at the degree ceremonies at this time.

Pre-COVID Information:

If you are about to graduate, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and we hope that your graduation at Cambridge proves to be a truly memorable occasion.

The list of dates of congregations of the Regent House at which degrees may be conferred can be found here.  Not all dates are available to Clare graduands but we do attend in January, April, May, July and October for most degrees.

Please note that the March Ceremony is for the reunion MA only (Clare participates in the first Saturday date only).  The June dates are for General Admission only.  Clare will not be attending the ceremonies in February and November.  If you wish to attend the July Ceremony you will need to select the Friday Ceremony as this has been allocated to Clare.

Once you have decided which congregation you would like to attend please could you enrol on the 'Graduation' tab on your CamSIS account, but send any queries to Jenny Colling, Praelector's Secretary.  If you have requested guest lunches please could you make the payment to the Clare College bank account quoting your name and 'degree' as the reference, details here

Parking - Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any parking in College (except in exceptional circumstances, please contact the Tutorial Office).  It is important that you inform your guests that the simplest way of visiting Cambridge by car is to use one of the five Park and Ride sites.  Alternatively, there are a number of purpose built car parks, but beware these can be expensive!  Details can be found here: https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/parking
