Sports and Societies
Will I find sports and societies to match my interests?
Most of our students are keen to pursue hobbies and explore interests outside their studies while they're here. At Clare we have over 30 student societies, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved or try something new. Whether you're into music or martial arts, life drawing or politics, knitting or netball... it's more than likely that there's a Clare student society for you.
Drama is very popular here, with the Clare Actors staging two or three productions each year, including a summer play in the beautiful setting of the Fellows' Garden. Clare also has a wide variety of sports teams and societies, including mixed netball and lacrosse, a large, competitive and friendly boat club (with its own boat house a few minutes away by bike) and excellent facilities for racket and field sports within easy reach.
Student societies are loosely co-ordinated by the UCS and funded in part by small grants which the UCS makes available out of its societies' budget. If you want to you can even set up your own society, with help from the UCS team. Click here to find out more.
You can also find a directory of University-wide student societies here.
