Hackney
Since 2009, Clare College has been responsible for schools liaison activities in Hackney on behalf of the University of Cambridge. Our work in the borough is generously supported by Linklaters. The Programme’s aim is to encourage pupils to raise their expectations, and aim for the best in higher education.
The Clare Schools Liaison Programme is based upon two complimentary strands: intensive contacts with one or more specific schools, which will act as foci for borough-wide activities; and direct links with individual schools interested in organising visits, workshops, etc.
The Schools Liaison Programme is part of Clare’s wider commitment to raising aspirations among all young people and recruiting the most able students, irrespective of background. Activities are offered for pupils at every stage of education, from Primary School to Sixth Form, and focus on supporting learning skills and helping pupils gain confidence in their potential.
Clare arranges events throughout the year, providing practical information about university education; interview training; and opportunities to meet current students, and take part in specialist classes and ‘subject taster days’.

- Activities for Secondary Schools
In these ways, Clare supports schools’ own efforts to encourage pupils to plan for university at an early stage, and to encourage the most able to consider applying to Cambridge.
