Clare College Cambridge

Graduate Admissions

Full details on how to apply can be found on the University of Cambridge Graduate Admissions website. The Cambridge University Postgraduate Guide gives information which may also be helpful to you.

There are 31 Colleges affiliated to Cambridge University. All Cambridge students are members of a College and it is necessary to be a member in order to be registered as a graduate student, whether full or part-time. A guide to Cambridge Colleges can be found on the link.

Two College choices can be made on the application. The Department or Faculty makes the initial academic decision recommending admission and then Colleges receive applications once a formal academic offer of admission has been made by the Graduate Admissions Office.

Please note that there are separate application procedures for the Cambridge MBA and Master in Finance courses offered by the Cambridge Judge Business School, the PGCE and Master in Education courses offered by the Faculty of Education and for courses offered by the School of Clinical Medicine.  Clare College does consider applications from students who have matriculated at another College in Cambridge.

Clare's graduate numbers are limited because we aim to offer accommodation for everybody who requests it but this is not guaranteed. We admit approximately 105 new graduate students each year, ensuring that our total community of around 300 graduate students is suitable for members of the graduate society (MCR) .

Transformation of Old Court

Unfortunately due to building works associated with the renovation of Old Court, Clare College will be closed to the public but as a prospective Clare student you will have access to the College. These building works are important to preserve Clare College for future generations but the College will be fully functioning. View our Transforming Old Court Pagefor more information!
