College Custodians

We currently have vacancies for College Custodians.

Our College Custodians work primarily from July 2017 up to October 2017 and they provide a front of house service at the entrances, in the gardens and at the gates to the College.

The key role of a Custodian is to supervise the access of visitors to the College courts and gardens and collect payments made by our customers for entrance fees and for the sale of merchandise.  In addition our Custodians help our Porters to ensure that the College closes up securely at the end of each period of guest activity.  Our Custodians are required to have excellent presentation and customer skills and be able to communicate well with a diverse group of visitors that include overseas school children and organised tour groups, visiting academics, University staff, students and their parents and local residents.  We want to greet people at Clare with a smile, ensure that they have a welcoming reception and enjoy their time with us.

Some additional work outside of this period may also be available on an ad-hoc basis.  Hours and shifts are variable and usual working day will begin at 10 and finish at 4.30 pm.  For some busy events later finish and/or longer hours will be required.  Uniform will be provided.Applicants must be able to work weekends.

Applicants must be physically fit and able to use a computer.  Experience of cash handling would be an advantage.  Benefits include free meals and paid holidays. The hourly rate is £8.24.
